New: Clonable Search Widget (Beta) for WordPress and WooCommerce
For many multilingual WooCommerce online stores, the search function is a challenge. Do you use an advanced search solution like Doofinder? If so, multilingual search functionality is often already taken care of. But if you’re using the standard WordPress search function or a simpler search solution, multilingual search within Clonable often still depended on translated XML feeds. That means extra configuration, more maintenance, and a solution that becomes unnecessarily complex as your online store grows.
We felt this needed to be simpler. That’s why we’re introducing the Clonable Search Widget (Beta). This new feature within our WordPress plugin easily adds a fast, multilingual search function to your WordPress or WooCommerce website—without complex XML configurations.
How does the Clonable Search Widget work?
Instead of making new server requests for every search query, the Search Widget automatically builds a smart search index of your products, pages, posts, and metadata. As soon as a visitor starts typing—as few as three characters—relevant search results immediately appear in the language of the Clone they are visiting. This ensures a fast and optimal user experience while keeping the load on your server low.
What are the benefits?
Fast multilingual search results
Thanks to the pre-built search index, search results appear almost instantly. Visitors do not have to wait while the website searches anew with every keystroke.
Specially developed for WooCommerce
The Search Widget fully supports WooCommerce. Search results immediately display relevant product information:
product images
prices
SKUs
stock status
This helps visitors find the right product more quickly.
Smart caching
The translated search index is cached per language. This means that a single translation run can be used by multiple Clones simultaneously. This reduces unnecessary processing and helps keep your website fast.
Full control
You decide which post types, categories, and content are included in the search index. Additionally, you can fully customize the widget to match the look and feel of your website using your own CSS.
Why are we releasing this feature as a beta first?
A search function works closely with WordPress, WooCommerce, themes, and other plugins. That is precisely why we want to test the Search Widget in practice on as many different websites as possible first. With the beta, we’re gathering feedback, improving compatibility, and optimizing the user experience before the final version is released.
