About Royal Dutch Jaarbeurs

Koninklijke Jaarbeurs was founded in 1916 with the aim of promoting trade and industry. More than a century later, that same ideal still forms the foundation of the company. Jaarbeurs organizes and facilitates a variety of (international) events - from meetings, workshops and trainings to conferences, award shows and large-scale trade fairs. Every year, some 2.3 million visitors find their way to the Jaarbeurs. Really meeting each other is central, both live and online.

How do we create those special encounters? In an inspired, sustainable and innovative way. Not for nothing have we been voted by the public as multiple winner of 'Best conference venue of the year'.

International ambitions

For the fair websites, Jaarbeurs focuses on making their content accessible to non-Dutch speaking visitors. The focus is on three strategic sectors: Agrifood, Construction & Installation and Healthcare.

The translation - from manual to efficient

Previously, Jaarbeurs used a WordPress multisite setup, where the marketing team created duplicates of the Dutch sites and translated them manually. However, this was a time-consuming process for a relatively small proportion of visitors. As a result, concise English-language versions of the sites were often chosen.

Translating websites was obviously a fairly time-consuming process. For many sites, we therefore only set up a more concise English version.

The discovery of Clonable

When an exhibition website needed to be available in English quickly under time pressure, Clonable came into the picture via-via. Jaarbeurs used the platform to set up a Proof of Concept - with success.

We came across Clonable via via and used it for a Proof of Concept to gauge whether we wanted to use Clonable more broadly.

Why Clonable?

The choice for Clonable was quickly made. We particularly liked the speed with which a fully translated website is available and the quality of the translations. The fact that texts can easily be adapted makes working with Clonable even more efficient.

We were very pleased with the almost instant translation and its quality. Customizing translations is also very user-friendly.

The cooperation so far

Royal Jaarbeurs has been working with Clonable since March 2024. Already 14 websites are running on the platform.
